An electrical engineer with more than three decades of experience, Thomas Wettermann is currently pursuing a qualification as a computer and information science patent analyst through Coursera. As part of the program, Thomas Wettermann is taking machine learning coursework on topics such as sequence models, convolutional neural networks, and regularization and optimization.

Previously, Mr. Wettermann spent 22 years as an electrical engineer with McDonnell Boehnen Hulbert & Berghoff in Chicago, where he consistently exceeded sales goals and achieved over $25 million in sales in 15 years. He also oversaw the development of complex patent portfolios for pharmaceutical companies and aerospace companies.

Mr. Wettermann holds a bachelor of science in electrical engineering and a bachelor of arts in Germanic languages from Marquette University. Additionally, he earned an MBA from the University of North Carolina, maintaining membership in the Theta Gamma Sigma national business honor society, and a law degree from DePaul University College of Law. In his free time, he enjoys gardening and landscaping.
